Settings
This app contains the relevant settings for calculating Course Handicaps and automatically adds any applicable mixed-tee adjustments to the Playing Handicap for the selected format. The Playing Handicaps and any mixed-tee adjustments depend on the format and the formula for calculating CH. The various settings allow for the different methods used in various countries.
Calculation of Course Handicap and Rounding
Under the WHS, there are two ways to calculate Course Handicaps. In GB&I, effective from 1 April 2024, the Course Handicap includes the (CR – Par) item and is no longer rounded before calculating the Playing Handicaps.
The 9-hole Course Handicap is calculated by first halving the Handicap Index, but this value may or may not be rounded to one decimal place.
The applied rounding may result in a difference of a full stroke in Playing Handicaps or strokes conceded in a match.
Mixed Tee Adjustments
For competitions or friendly games where multiple tees are used, the mixed-tee adjustments to handicaps are made to achieve equity when Course Ratings and/or pars are different. It also applies to fully mixed team formats.
In this app, whenever multiple tees are assigned to players, the mixed-tee adjustments are added to Playing Handicaps. Such adjustments for a team are done by either adding the average of the individual adjustments or adjusting the Course Handicaps before calculating the Playing Handicaps. Where Course Handicaps are adjusted for team formats such as foursomes, greensomes and scramble, the scoring tee has the highest par by default. The choice of scoring tee may be changed by the user.
For a mixed-tee scratch formats, the adjustments are based on differences in CR. For such formats, use the setting CH without CR-Par and enter Handicap Index of 0 for all players to get mixed-tee adjusted Playing Handicaps.
This app is not endorsed by any golf governing bodies. Users are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the input data, the settings and the handicaps obtained from the app are applicable and accurate.
